"All I've got is a red guitar, three chords and the truth All I've got is a red guitar, the rest is up to you"
All along the Watchtower - extra verse by U2
James Kelly, guitar and vocals John Idan, lead guitar and vocals Dave Stephen, bass guitar Phil Taylor, drums
By late 1993, James wanted to move his music closer to the blues and teamed up with Kiwi drummer Phil Taylor to form Blues Ltd. I joined on bass and James recruited the very talented “Detroit” John Idan on lead guitar and vocals making us a truly multi-national blues band!

Woke up this morning.... Blues at The Station Tavern. Bob’s Goodtime Blues Bar at The Station was a well established blues venue. It was like a second home to John, who played there regularly with Top Topham and Jim McCarty, and at the Sunday lunchtime sessions.
The Elusive Camel Strange name for a pub, but a great residency for us. The photos here are from our farewell performance, when James decided to return to Melbourne for good. There are also pictures from The World's End, Finsbury Park (near Arsenal’s old Highbury football ground), another regular pub venue. My favourite gig was Sunday afternoons on HMS President, moored on the Thames near Blackfriars.
The wedding James returned to Australia for good in 1996, and a few months later, Phil decided to return home to New Zealand to fulfil his ambition to be a journalist. Back in Oz, James met Fiona, and they married in 1999. John, Phil and I managed to get to the wedding and play a few gigs including the famous “Espy“ and 3CR local radio. Some superb b & w photos taken by Fiona, James’ new wife.
